Periodontics

Bleeding gums are not normal. Periodontics treats the cause before teeth start to loosen.

Approximate duration45–60 min per session
Visits2 to 4 + maintenance
AnesthesiaLocal for deep cleanings
RecoveryMild sensitivity for a few days

Periodontics cares for the gums and the bone that support your teeth. Gum disease starts painlessly — bleeding gums, bad breath, receding gumlines — and left untreated, it destroys the tooth's support until it loosens.

The good news: caught in time, it's very manageable. With deep cleanings and proper follow-up, gums heal and the disease's progression stops.

What does the procedure look like?

What does the procedure look like?

01

Periodontal exam

We measure the pocket depth around every tooth and evaluate bleeding, recession and mobility.

02

Deep cleaning

Scaling and root planing: we remove tartar below the gumline, where your brush can't reach.

03

Re-evaluation

Weeks later we measure again. In the vast majority of cases, gums respond and inflammation subsides.

04

Periodontal maintenance

Checkups every 3–4 months so the disease doesn't return. Consistency is the key.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it normal for my gums to bleed?

No. Bleeding is the first warning sign of inflammation. If your gums bleed when brushing or flossing, it's time for a periodontal evaluation.

Can gum disease be cured?

It can be controlled very effectively. Lost tissue doesn't grow back on its own, but treatment stops the progression and gums often regain remarkable firmness and health.

Why are my gums receding?

The most common causes are gum disease and aggressive brushing. At your evaluation we identify the cause and the right treatment for your case.
